Data Resources
CIMMYT researchers are committed to sharing their knowledge openly and globally through articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, books, manuals, papers, public lectures, photos, videos, datasets, software, and other information products. Assuring Open Access to CIMMYT’s wealth of knowledge is critical to our mission.
Maize Finder
MaizeFinder is an application that allows user-friendly queries and analysis of the data collected from maize breeding research carried out by or distributed by CIMMYT throughout the world.
CIMMYT Maize Lines (CMLs)
CIMMYT Maize Lines (CMLs) are carefully selected inbred lines with good general combining ability and a significant number of value-adding traits such as drought tolerance, nitrogen use efficiency, acid soil tolerance, resistance to diseases, insects and parasitic weeds.
The International Maize Trials Network
The International Maize Trials Network provides annual contact between the CIMMYT Maize Program and a global network of maize research cooperators who evaluate maize germplasm. CIMMYT’s improved germplasm is dispatched, through nurseries targeted to specific agro-ecological environments, to this network of researchers. Data are then collected, curated, and made available to the public.
CIMMYT Maize Germplasm Bank Data
The Maize Germplasm Bank contains over 28,000 unique collections of seed of maize and related species from 88 countries. Information about the germplasm bank accessions, such as the latitude and longitude of collection sites, can be accessed online and used to select specific seeds to request for various purposes.
SeeDs of Discovery – Germinate, Maize Data
Germinate provides queryable phenotypic, genotypic, passport, and collection site data about germplasm bank accessions and other related maize germplasm used in the MasAgro Biodiversidad /Seeds of Discovery initiative.
International Nursery Data
The International Wheat Improvement Network (IWIN) distributes CIMMYT-bred improved bread wheat and durum wheat to cooperators and partners, upon required, worldwide. Data provided on the distributed germplasm from 1976 to the present, is available on this site, and upon request from CIMMYT.
CIMMYT Wheat Germplasm Bank
The CIMMYT Wheat Germplasm Bank contains nearly 140,000 unique accessions of wheat and related species from more than 100 countries, and is one of the largest unified collections for a single crop.
Genetic Resources Information System (GRIS)
GRIS provides a pedigree and gene registry for global wheat and triticale germplasm.
Seeds of Discovery
Germinate provides queryable phenotypic, genotypic, passport, and collection site data about germplasm bank accessions and other related wheat germplasm used in the MasAgro Biodiversidad / Seeds of Discovery initiative.
International Winter Wheat Improvement Program (IWWIP)
International Winter Wheat Improvement Program (IWWIP) is a joint program between the Government of Turkey, CIMMYT and ICARDA. The Program develops winter/facultative wheat germplasm for Central and West Asia and North Africa (CWANA).
CIMMYT Australia ICARDA Germplasm Evaluation (CAIGE)
The CAIGE project evaluates CIMMYT and ICARDA germplasm primarily by Australian and CGIAR wheat breeders and wheat scientists.
Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI)
The Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI) is an international consortium of over 1,000 scientists from hundreds of institutions working together to reduce the world’s vulnerability to stem, yellow, and leaf rusts of wheat; it facilitates sustainable international partnerships to contain the threat of wheat rusts; and enhance world productivity to withstand global threats to wheat security.
